We’re very excited to introduce you Amy Scotty, one of Tjala Arts’ rising stars.
Born in 1994, Scotty grew up in Amata community in the APY Lands. Her father’s Country is Nyapari, west of Amata, and her grandfather is the renowned Tjungu Palya artist, Ginger Wikilyiri.
Scotty’s works depict the rock holes and significant geological formations around Amata. Her artistic development is guided by senior artists at Tjala Arts and she is inspired by the work of her famous grandfather.
As well as working in the studio as an emerging artist, Scotty is a highly skilled artworker.
At such an early stage in her artistic practice, Scotty demonstrates an intuitive understanding of colour and composition. Her execution is meticulous without being mechanical; she possesses a softness of touch that is akin to the master painter, Sylvia Ken.
Amy Scotty is a young artist with considerable talent, which we believe will only get stronger and more accomplished as she matures as an artist.
