We’re very excited to spotlight Kathy Quinn Larry from Ikuntji Artists (Haasts Bluff, NT) with this solo exhibition. Born in 1996, Kathy is one of Ikuntji’s youngest practicing artists.
This exhibition gives Kathy the opportunity to explore in depth her chosen theme of bush flowers in the wind.
A key element of Kathy’s work is how the wind creates whirly whirlies (whirlwinds), which move the flowers and branches around. Her grandmother explained that she didn’t need to be afraid of the wine, and that it would always take her home
Kathy uses her observations and knowledge to create joyful paintings representing the winds twisting and curling the wild flowers into graceful filigrees as they blow across her Country.
